If a membrane has failed, we discuss a rip-out, new waterproof membrane installation, and retile option for a comprehensive fix.

Our customers would need to pick one of the two options depending on the situation and our subsequent recommendations:

  • Option 1: On inspection of the shower tray, depending on the damage of the leak and a cheaper option, we would provide a shower seal where we would rake out old grout, remove old silicone on wall and floor joints and apply epoxy grout along with new silicone and a clear waterproof membrane over tiles on wall and floor providing a watertight barrier and non-penetrating surface from water getting in.
  • Option 2: On inspection of a shower tray, it might be evident that the waterproofing membrane has failed, causing years of damage and leaks that have damaged everything in its path. We would offer and recommend you do a rip out of the shower tray. This procedure includes the removal of one row of tiles along the base of the shower tray and shower floor and, a new waterproof membrane applied with rubber bandage for movement and flexibility, retiled, and new silicone. This option comes with a 10-year certificate on completion.
